Soweto Slums has a large number of familes whose bread winners have no employment, relaying on one time casual work ( a person can successfully get or rearly get work, if advantaged either twice or thrice a week). The area due to poverty it tends to have alot idleness in the community, this drives into alot of drugs and substances, sexual, gender based violences abuses; cheap traditional alcohols (illicit brews) and majority of the parents ends up negelecting their parental responsibilities thus neglecting their children. And by that most adults end up to be in the streets as street families.
As a community changer we decided to serve them with one meal Lunch per day for six days a week ( Monday to Saturday) and in between thw week on Wednesday they get spiritual mentorship. We do also feed their children every lunch and some we do breakfast and give them Education due to their vulnerability. The program demands alot in terms of financial and commodities resources.
The 50 children who came back to Mum's Love Children's Home as Learners because they felt that the orphanage was their place to learn as their school. Their need felt was as a result of the vulnerability of the familes they come from who were not able to take them back to school.
The proprietor of Mum's Love Children's Home together with Board management felt these need and therefore started by converting 4 dormItories into classrooms to meet the felt need. From there they consulted further measures on how to regulate both the orphanage and education Centre.
The children and Education department advised the management to separate school from the orphanage. This made the orphanage management take the intiative of looking for an ideal leasing land to set up a school.
After a long search, the management found a land where it was a den of illicit brew (cheap illegal alcohol) which we managed to change to a community facility through the support from online social media welwishers.
